United Methodist Women (UMW) is now United Women in Faith (UWF).

This change is a result of research for over five years with more than 24,000 United Methodists and women of other Christian traditions. The result is a renewed commitment to inclusivity and diversity. We remain women of passion and power, united by God’s love in our mission to support women, children, and youth.

Our work is inspired by our Purpose and our commitment to turn faith, hope, and love into action.

From its beginning, over 150 years ago, United Women in Faith has focused on ministries

with women, children, and youth.

“I am humbled to be part of the legacy of countless women who vowed to ‘act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God.’ Our lives today are forever woven into their lives as we continue the work that began in 1869 with eight women on a dark and stormy night in Boston, MA. May the legacy continue so 150 years from now a new generation of women could proudly celebrate 300 years of women, whatever name they may carry then, in mission.”  Deaconess Judith Pierre-Okerson, President, Florida Conference United Women in Faith
